What is an Ice Mate?

The Ice Mate is a 9" waterproof reusable ice bag with a compression strap, designed for drug-free pain relief from sports injuries, accidents, and surgery.

Use it following intense or prolonged physical activity, soft tissue injuries, ligament sprains, muscle strains, swelling, and post-surgery pain relief.

A first aid kit essential — always have one on hand for the unexpected!

How does an Ice Mate work?

Slip the empty bag through the hole in the strap and pull down firmly to secure. Half-fill the bag with ice and place it over the injured area.

For ankles and knees, pull the compression strap around the back of the joint and secure with Velcro. For shoulder or ribs, use the extension strap to secure the bag in place.

Apply cold to the affected area for at least 20 minutes on / 20 minutes off, for 2–3 hours.

To avoid damaging the bag, do NOT store it filled with ice in the freezer or hit the bag on a surface to crush the ice.

Frequently asked questions

Simple answers to common questions about this product

How do I use the Ice Mate Products

Simply untwist the opening, fill with ice, and hold against the injury for relief. They are great for keeping in your first aid kit and are completely reusable.

The classic Ice Mate is a simple ice bag designed to add cold and compression to the most commonly injured body areas. The Ice Mate Pro includes two ice packs (in a slightly smaller size than the Ice Mate) and a compression wrap with two holes. It is perfect for applying cold to both sided of a joint (Shoulder, Knee, Ankle) at the same time. Idea for pain relief following surgery. The Ice Mate Mini does not include a strap. It's a hand held bag for smaller areas (such as the jaw or fingers) or for kids bumps and bruises.

No. Make sure you empty the bag and drain it so that it dries out completely before storing it. The problem with putting the bag in the freezer between uses, is that the ice freezes solid. Most people are tempted to bang the bag on a surface to crush the ice inside. This will almost certainly put a hole in the bag and render it useless.
